Instagram's Music Limits
The music list comes straight from Instagram (Meta). Meta sets a few rules that affect what you see:
- Facebook-connected accounts only. Music works only for Instagram accounts connected to Nuelink through Facebook.
- Only approved music shows up. Meta only shares tracks that are cleared for use outside the Instagram app. So the list may be different from what you see in the Instagram app.
- Reels only. Audio works for Instagram Reels only. It's not available for feed photos, carousels, or Stories.
- Two types of audio. You can choose between Music (licensed songs) and Original Sound (audio created by other Instagram users).
- Music depends on your region. The tracks you see depend on the country linked to your Instagram account. Two accounts in different countries may see different songs.
FAQs
Why can't I see the Instagram Audio option?
The option only shows up when two things are true: you've selected an Instagram channel, and you're on the Short-form Video tab. Check both, and the toggle will appear.
Why is a song I found in the Instagram app missing in Nuelink?
Meta only lets outside apps like Nuelink use music that's approved for third-party use. Some songs in the Instagram app aren't on that list, so they won't show up in Nuelink.
My teammate sees different songs than I do. Why?
The music list depends on the region of each Instagram account. If your accounts are set up in different countries, you'll see different tracks.
Will the music be added to my other channels too (like TikTok or YouTube)?
No. The audio you pick only applies to your Instagram Reel. Your other channels will post the video with its original sound.
What's the difference between "Music" and "Original sound"?
Music is licensed songs from artists. Original sound is audio that Instagram creators have made and shared, like voiceovers or trending sounds.
Troubleshooting
The Instagram Audio toggle is missing.
Make sure an Instagram account is selected under Social Channels and that you're on the Short-form Video tab. The option won't appear on the Post, Story, Thread, or Poll tabs.
My search returns no results.
Try a shorter keyword, such as just the artist name. Then switch between Music and Original sound to see if the track is listed in the other type. Keep in mind that some songs aren't available because of Meta's licensing or your account's region.
I don't see the song I wanted.
That song may not be approved for third-party apps, or it may not be available in your region. Pick a similar track from the list, or try a different keyword.
My Instagram channel shows a warning or disconnected status.
Go to your channels, remove the Instagram account, and reconnect it. Make sure you allow all the permissions Instagram asks for. Then try adding audio again.
Can I add music to my Instagram Reels in Nuelink?
Yes! On the Short-form Video tab, turn on Instagram Audio and click Add Music. Choose Music or Original Sound, pick a track, and click Add Track. This works only for Instagram Reels, and only for Instagram accounts connected to Nuelink through Facebook.
Why can't I find the same audio I see in the Instagram app?
Nuelink can only show audio that Instagram has approved for use in third-party apps. So some songs, sounds, or trending audio in the Instagram app may not show up in Nuelink. If you can't find a track, Meta most likely doesn't make it available to scheduling tools.
Search results are also limited by Meta. Searching in Nuelink may give different results than searching in the Instagram app.
Does my Instagram account type change the music I can use?
Yes. If your Instagram account is a Business account, you won't have access to copyrighted music, such as popular songs from well-known artists. This is a rule from Instagram, and it applies in the Instagram app too. Business accounts can only use royalty-free music and original sounds.
Creator accounts usually have access to a wider range of music. If you need more music options, you can switch your account type in your Instagram settings.
Why do my accounts see different music?
The music you see depends on your Instagram account's region and account type. Two accounts in different countries, or a Business account and a Creator account, may see different tracks.
Can I choose a specific part of an audio track?
No. Because of Instagram's limits, you can't pick a starting point or a section of a track in Nuelink. The audio starts at the beginning of the track and plays for the length of your Reel. To use a specific part of a song, add the audio directly in the Instagram app.
The Creator point assumes Creator accounts can use copyrighted music, which Instagram usually allows. Please confirm it with a Creator account before publishing.
