How to Set Up YouTube Automation to Auto-Post Your Videos to Social Media

YouTube Automation lets you automatically turn every new YouTube video into social media posts. Once your automation is set up, Nuelink monitors your YouTube channel, imports new videos, and either publishes them immediately or adds them to a Collection to be published later according to your schedule.

Note: To follow this guide, you'll need a Nuelink account and at least one connected social media channel where your YouTube videos will be published.

Important: By default, YouTube Automation only imports videos published after the automation is created. If you'd like to import older videos already on your channel, enable Import Existing Videos during setup.

What Is YouTube Automation?

YouTube Automation is a Nuelink automation that watches your YouTube channel for newly published videos and automatically creates social media posts from them. Instead of manually copying your video title, downloading the thumbnail, writing captions, and publishing to multiple platforms, Nuelink does everything automatically. You can customize your captions, choose whether to share your video as a link or image, generate captions with NueAI, automatically publish follow-up comments, import older videos, and even send imported posts to a Collection so they follow your posting schedule.

Step-by-Step Guide

  1. From the left sidebar, click Automations, then click Create Automation at the top of the page.

  1. Open the Automations tab and click Create Automation under YouTube to begin setting up your automation.

  1. Paste your YouTube Channel URL into the YouTube Channel Link field, then give your automation a name. Nuelink will monitor this channel for newly published videos and import them automatically.

  1. In the Caption field, write the caption you'd like every imported YouTube video to use. You can write it yourself, generate one with NueAI, or use variables to automatically include information such as the video title, description, or link.

  1. Use the Post Title field to create a custom title for platforms that support titles, such as Facebook Videos and Pinterest. You can use variables like {{title}} and {{description}}, which are automatically replaced with information from each YouTube video.

  1. Turn on Auto thread long captions if you'd like long captions to automatically be split into threads on supported platforms like X, Threads, Bluesky, and Mastodon, allowing your full caption to be published without exceeding character limits.

  1. Choose whether your videos should be shared as a Link Post or an Image Post. A Link Post publishes the YouTube URL, while an Image Post publishes the video's thumbnail together with your caption.

  1. Enable Import Existing Videos if you'd like to import videos that were published before creating this automation. Enter the maximum number of previous videos you'd like Nuelink to import, and then they'll be added using the rest of your automation settings.

  1. Turn on Mark posts as drafts for later review if you'd like imported videos to be saved as drafts instead of being published immediately. This gives you time to review and edit each post before it goes live.

  1. Enable Publish Immediately if you want new videos to be published as soon as Nuelink detects them. If this option is disabled and you're using a Collection, imported videos will instead follow your Collection's publishing schedule.

  1. Turn on Send a follow-up comment to automatically publish a comment after your social media post goes live. You can write the comment yourself or generate one with NueAI, making it easy to add links, extra information, or a call to action.

  1. Enable Use smart conditions if you'd like to import only videos that meet specific requirements. For example, you can choose to import only videos containing certain words or phrases in their title or description.

  1. Turn on Create a new collection for this automation if you'd like imported videos to be added to a Collection instead of being published immediately. This lets you review, organize, and schedule your imported content before it's shared to your social channels.

  1. Open Advanced Options to customize additional settings, including how often Nuelink checks your YouTube channel for new uploads, whether tracking parameters should be removed from imported links, and whether to use a custom user agent for advanced use cases.

  1. Once you're happy with your settings, click Add YouTube Automation. Your automation will start monitoring your YouTube channel and automatically process new videos according to the options you've selected.

Collections & Scheduling

If you enabled Create a new collection for this automation, every imported YouTube video will be added to a Collection instead of being published immediately. Collections help you organize your content, review imported posts, and publish them according to a schedule that you control.

  1. After creating your automation, a collection will be created for your YouTube Automation. This is where every imported video will appear before it's published.

  1. Choose the social media accounts you'd like this Collection to publish to. You can select one or multiple channels, and every imported YouTube video will be prepared for those selected accounts.

  1. Set the days, times, and time zone for your Collection. Instead of publishing as soon as a video is imported, Nuelink will wait until the next available scheduled time before publishing the post.

Based on the Collections Settings page in your screenshot, the Collections section should describe configuring the Collection after it has been created, not opening it and connecting channels. Here's the corrected section that matches the UI.

Collections & Scheduling

  1. If you enabled Create a new collection for this automation, Nuelink creates a Collection where every imported YouTube video is stored before it's published. From the Collection Settings page, you can customize how and when your imported videos are shared.

  1. Enter a Collection Name to help identify your automation. You can also choose a color for the Collection, making it easier to distinguish from your other Collections throughout Nuelink.

  1. Under Default Social Channels, select the social media accounts where posts from this Collection should be published. Every imported YouTube video added to this Collection will automatically use these selected channels unless you change them on an individual post.

  1. In the Weekly Schedule section, choose the days and times when you'd like posts from this Collection to be published. Click Add Slot after selecting a day and time to build your publishing schedule. Every imported YouTube video will wait in the Collection until the next available publishing slot.

  1. Turn on Recycle posts repeatedly after a cooldown if you'd like posts in this Collection to be republished automatically after a certain period. You can choose how long Nuelink should wait before recycling a post and decide what should happen to its media files after each publishing cycle.

  1. Under Queue Behavior, choose how Nuelink should publish posts from the Collection. You can publish from the top of the queue, from the bottom, or randomly, depending on how you'd like your content to be distributed.

  1. Open Advanced Options if you'd like to pause publishing from this Collection or automatically trim links before posts are published. Most users can leave these settings at their default values.

  1. Once you've finished configuring the Collection, click Save Changes. Every new YouTube video imported by your automation will now be added to this Collection and published according to the schedule and settings you've configured.

What Happens After Setup

Once your automation is active, Nuelink starts checking your YouTube channel based on the check frequency you selected.

Whenever a new video is detected, Nuelink imports it using your chosen settings. If Publish Immediately is enabled, the post is published automatically. If Mark posts as drafts is enabled, the post is saved as a draft for review. If you enabled Create a Collection, the imported post is added to your Collection and published according to its schedule.

Any additional options you've enabled, such as follow-up comments, auto-threading, Smart Conditions, or custom captions, are automatically applied to every imported video.

You'll see the automation listed on your Automations page, where you can pause it, resume it, edit it, duplicate it, or check when it last ran.

FAQs & Troubleshooting

Does YouTube Automation import old videos?

No. By default, the automation only imports videos published after it's created. To import older videos already on your channel, enable Import Existing Videos during setup and choose how many videos you'd like Nuelink to import.

By default, Nuelink checks your YouTube channel every 24 hours. You can change this from the Advanced Options section of your automation.

Can I review imported posts before they're published?

Yes. Enable Mark posts as drafts for later review to review each imported post before publishing, or send imported videos to a Collection where you can edit and schedule them before they go live.

What's the difference between Publish Immediately and Collections?

Publish Immediately publishes imported videos as soon as Nuelink detects them. If you use a Collection, imported videos are added to the queue and published according to your Collection's posting schedule instead.

Can I automatically add a comment to published posts?

Yes. Turn on Send a follow-up comment, write your comment or generate one with NueAI, then choose when the comment should be published after the post goes live.

Can I customize the caption for every imported video?

Yes. You can write your own caption, generate one with NueAI, or use variables that automatically insert information from each YouTube video.

Why wasn't my latest YouTube video imported?

Check a few things. Make sure the automation is enabled, your YouTube Channel URL is correct, the video is publicly available, and the check frequency has had time to run. If you're using Smart Conditions, verify that the video matches your filters.

My imported posts aren't publishing.

If you enabled Create a Collection, your posts will follow the Collection's schedule instead of publishing immediately. If you'd like videos to publish as soon as they're imported, turn on Publish Immediately instead.

Can I edit my automation later?

Yes. Open the Automations page, select your YouTube Automation, make your changes, and save them. The updated settings will be used for future imported videos.

No. Once your automation is created, it runs in the background. You can close Nuelink, and it will continue checking your YouTube channel automatically.
