How to Set Up Instagram Crossposting

Instagram crossposting lets you post once on your Instagram app and automatically share that same content to your other social channels. This guide walks you through setting it up step by step, so your Reels, carousels, and images reach every platform without any extra work.

Note: To follow this guide, you'll need a Nuelink account with your Instagram account connected, plus at least one other social channel connected to send your posts to. If you haven't connected your channels yet, you can do that first by following these steps.

Important: Once this automation is set up, you post from the Instagram app or Instagram desktop as usual. Nuelink then picks up those posts and cross-posts them for you. If you'd rather publish to all your socials directly from Nuelink, read here instead.

What Is Instagram Crossposting?

Instagram crossposting is a Nuelink automation that watches your Instagram account and copies your new posts to your other platforms automatically. You keep posting on Instagram the way you always have. Nuelink does the rest in the background.

Here's why it's powerful. Instead of manually re-uploading the same Reel to TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and Facebook, you post it once and let the automation share it everywhere you choose. It runs on its own, every 30 minutes, so your whole social presence stays consistent without any daily copy-paste work. You can also fine-tune what gets shared, such as only Reels, only posts with a certain hashtag, or every post you publish. That means more reach, less busywork, and a steady presence on every channel that matters to you.

Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Click Automations in the left sidebar.

  2. Click the Create Automation button at the top of the page.

  3. Open the Crosspost tab, then click Create Automation under Instagram Crossposting.

  4. Under Select Instagram to Post From, choose the Instagram account you want to crosspost from.

  5. Keep Post immediately to specific channels turned on, then pick the social channels you want your Instagram content sent to.

Note: Due to Instagram's API rules, you can't crosspost to another Instagram account. To share the same post across multiple Instagram accounts, create a post in Nuelink and select those accounts together.

  6. (Optional) Turn on Add posts to a collection to be crossposted following its schedule if you'd like your crossposted content to follow a collection's posting times instead of going out right away.

  7. (Optional) Set a Post title. The {{caption}} placeholder automatically pulls in your original Instagram caption. This title is used on Pinterest, YouTube, and Facebook videos.

  8. (Optional) Turn on Auto thread long captions to automatically split long captions into a thread on platforms that support threading (like Threads, X, Bluesky, and Mastodon).

  9. (Optional) Turn on Send a follow-up comment to automatically add a comment to your post after it's published. Write your comment, or use NueAI to generate one. Then set the Condition (for example, after a delay) and how many minutes Nuelink should wait before adding it.

  10. Choose which post types you would like to crosspost. You can turn on Cross-post all the posts, or pick specific types: Cross-post single image posts, Cross-post carousel posts, and Cross-post reels.

  11. (Optional) Turn on Treat my videos as short-form vertical videos (Reels, Shorts, TikToks…), so your videos are shared as Reels, Shorts, and TikToks on the platforms that support them.

  12. (Optional) Turn on Only crosspost when there's a specific hashtag in the caption, then enter the hashtag. Only Instagram posts that include that hashtag will be crossposted.

  13. Click Add Instagram Crossposting Automation to save.

That's it! You're all set! From now on, whenever you post from the Instagram app or desktop, Nuelink will crosspost it to the channels you choose. Nuelink checks your Instagram account every 30 minutes for new posts.

What Happens After Setup

Here's how it plays out in real life. Say you post a new Reel from the Instagram app on Monday morning. Within 30 minutes, Nuelink spots the Reel and automatically cross-posts it to the channels you picked, for example, as a Short on YouTube, a Reel on Facebook, and a video on TikTok. You don't lift a finger.

If you turned on extra options, they kick in too: your caption carries over, a follow-up comment is added after your chosen delay, and long captions are split into a thread where supported. You'll see the new automation listed on your Automations page, where you can pause, resume, edit, or check when it last ran.

FAQs & Troubleshooting

Can I cross-post posts I publish from Nuelink?

No. Instagram crossposting only works for posts published directly from the Instagram app or Instagram desktop. To publish to multiple platforms from Nuelink, create a post in Nuelink and select all the accounts you want to post to.

What types of Instagram posts can be crossposted?

You can crosspost Reels, single image posts, and carousel posts. You can crosspost all types or limit the automation to specific types only.

How often does Nuelink check for new Instagram posts?

Nuelink checks your Instagram account every 30 minutes. Once it spots a new post, it cross-posts it to the channels you selected.

Can I crosspost to another Instagram account?

No. Instagram's API doesn't allow crossposting from one Instagram account to another. To share the same content across multiple Instagram accounts, create a post in Nuelink and select those accounts together.

Can I crosspost Instagram Stories?

No. Instagram doesn't provide API access for Stories, so they can't be cross-posted.

Can I add a comment to my cross-posted content automatically?

Yes. Turn on Send a follow-up comment, write or generate your comment with NueAI, and set how long Nuelink should wait before adding it.

Do I need to keep Nuelink open for the automation to work?

No. Once it's set up, the automation runs in the background. You can close Nuelin,k, and it will keep working.

My Instagram post didn't crosspost automatically.

Check a few things. Make sure the automation is enabled and not paused, your Instagram account is properly connected, and the post type is included in your settings. If you turned on hashtag filtering, confirm the post includes that hashtag. Also, remember Nuelink checks every 30 minutes, so a brand-new post may not have been picked up yet.

My Reel was skipped and didn't cross-post.

Reels that use copyrighted music can't be cross-posted because of a recent Instagram update. Try posting Reels with original or royalty-free audio so they can be shared.

The automation isn't running at all.

Open the Automations page and check the status of your Instagram crossposting automation. If it shows as paused, click Resume to turn it back on.

My posts went out at the wrong time.

If you turned on Add posts to a collection, your content follows that collection's schedule instead of posting right away. To publish immediately after Instagram, turn that option off so posts go out as soon as Nuelink detects them.
