How to Set Up Pinterest Crossposting

Pinterest Crossposting lets you automatically share new Pins from a Pinterest board to your other connected social media channels. Once the automation is active, you can continue publishing Pins from the Pinterest website or mobile app, and Nuelink will automatically detect and crosspost them based on your settings.

You can choose where your Pins are shared, customize captions, send posts to a Collection, automatically add follow-up comments, and decide which content types should be crossposted.

Note: Before creating this automation, connect your Pinterest account and all destination social media channels from Social Channels in Nuelink.

Important: Pinterest Crossposting only monitors the Pinterest board you select during setup. Nuelink checks your Pinterest account every hour and only crossposts new Pins published after the automation is created. Posts published using Create Post in Nuelink do not trigger this automation.

What Is Pinterest Crossposting?

Pinterest Crossposting automatically shares content from one of your Pinterest boards to your connected social media channels. Instead of manually downloading and reposting each Pin, Nuelink detects new Pins and publishes them automatically.

You can choose which board to monitor, customize the caption, add follow-up comments, and decide whether posts should be published immediately or follow a Collection schedule.

For example, if you publish a new product image to your Pinterest board, Nuelink can automatically share it to Facebook, LinkedIn, Bluesky, Threads, Mastodon, and other supported platforms without any extra work.

Step-by-Step Guide

Go to Automations and click on Create automation.

Open the Crosspost category and click Create Automation under Pinterest Crossposting.

Choose the Pinterest account you want Nuelink to monitor, then select the Pinterest board where your new Pins will be detected. Only Pins published to the selected board will trigger the automation.

Enable Post immediately to specific channels if you want matching Pins to be published as soon as they are detected. Then select the connected social media channels where you want your content to be shared. Choose destination platforms that support Pinterest content, such as images and carousels.

Enable Add posts to a Collection to be crossposted following its schedule if you want imported Pins to follow a Collection schedule instead of being published immediately. Nuelink will add matching Pins to the selected Collection, and the Collection schedule will determine when they are published.

Use the Post title field to customize the caption that will be published on supported platforms. You can combine your own text with the {{caption}} variable to include the original Pinterest Pin description automatically.

Enable Send a follow-up comment if you'd like Nuelink to automatically publish a comment after the post goes live. Enter your comment manually or use NueAI to improve or generate one. Then choose how long Nuelink should wait before publishing the comment.

Select the Pinterest content types you want to crosspost. You can choose to share:

Image posts
Carousel posts

Only the selected content types will trigger the automation.

Enable only crosspost when there's a specific hashtag in the caption if you only want selected Pins to be shared. Enter the hashtag in the field provided, and only Pins containing that hashtag will be crossposted.

Review your settings and click Add Pinterest Crossposting Automation. Nuelink will begin monitoring your selected Pinterest board for new Pins.

Collections & Scheduling

If you enable immediate publishing, Nuelink crossposts matching Pins shortly after they are detected.

If you assign a Collection, matching Pins are imported into that Collection instead. The Collection schedule determines exactly when each post is published, making it easy to spread content throughout the day or week.

What Happens After Setup

Imagine you publish a new product image to your selected Pinterest board using the Pinterest website or mobile app. Within about an hour, Nuelink checks the board and detects the new PIN.

If the Pin matches your automation settings, Nuelink prepares it using your caption template and publishes it to each destination channel you've selected.

If you've chosen to use a Collection, the Pin is added to the selected Collection and waits until the next scheduled publishing time.

If you've enabled follow-up comments, Nuelink automatically publishes your comment after the delay you selected. If you've enabled hashtag filtering, only Pins containing the specified hashtag are imported and crossposted.

Posts published through Create Post in Nuelink do not trigger the Pinterest Crossposting automation. If you want to publish the same content from Nuelink to multiple social media channels, simply use Create Post and select all of the channels you want to publish to.

FAQs & Troubleshooting

How often does Pinterest Crossposting check for new Pins?

Nuelink checks your selected Pinterest board every hour for new Pins.

Can I choose which Pinterest board to monitor?

Yes. During setup, you can select the Pinterest board that Nuelink should monitor. Only Pins published to that board will be crossposted.

Can I use Create Post in Nuelink to trigger the automation?

No. Pinterest Crossposting only detects new Pins published directly on Pinterest. Posts published using Create Post in Nuelink do not trigger the automation. If you want to publish one post to multiple platforms from Nuelink, use Create Post and select all of the destination channels.

What types of Pinterest content are supported?

Pinterest Crossposting supports image posts and carousel posts.

Can I customize the caption?

Yes. You can customize the caption using your own text and the {{caption}} placeholder to include the original Pinterest description.

What happens if I use a Collection?

Instead of publishing immediately, Nuelink imports matching Pins into the selected Collection. The Collection schedule determines when each post is published.

Can I automatically add a follow-up comment?

Yes. Enable the follow-up comment option, write your comment, optionally improve it with NueAI, and choose when it should be published.

Why wasn't my Pin crossposted?

Check a few things. Make sure the automation is enabled, your Pinterest account is connected, the correct board is selected, the content type is supported, and the Pin matches any hashtag filter you've configured. Also, remember that Nuelink checks for new Pins every hour.

Can I edit the automation later?

Yes. You can return to Automations at any time to update your Pinterest board, destination channels, Collection, caption template, follow-up comments, hashtag filter, or other automation settings.
